Motor Boat Charters


 

Motorboat charter is for those who enjoy the feeling of speed and power (not minding the expenses for the refill). Getting up at lunch time and still reaching your favourite beach when sun is still high is possible, when you are a “power-boater”. Passing distances of 20 miles per hour is an easy thing to do. It also allows you to return to the save and comfortable ambience of your marina, if you do not trust the weather staying calm over night.

There is a big range of different motor yachts for all kind. It starts with smaller day cruisers of 5 meters up to motor luxury yachts with 30 meters.

Powerboats between 7 and 15 meters can mainly be chartered as a bareboat, if you have a skipper licence yourself. For chartering motor yachts of 15 meters and more you will have to accept (and pay) a professional skipper or you find it offered with skipper (and crew) under the section Crewed Charters.

Some basics about the different kind of hull designs of motor yachts:

Displacement hull: This design of hull shows a round bottom and does not allow high speed. The advantage is that quite small engines without much house power can drive this yacht, which reduces the consummation and allows long distances. The hull “cuts” the water, which allows a very soft and comfortable cruising. There is a simple formula for calculating the theoretical maximum speed (in knots) which such hull can reach:


1.34 x the square rout of the boat’s waterline length. Example for motor yacht with 40 ft: (square root of 40 is 6.32) V (max) = 1.34 kn x 6.32 = 8.47 kn
